Plymouth, Devon, UK
Before beginning my career in media I was a Self-Employed builder for 7 years where I gained my first experience of managing clients, whilst working in all weather conditions. I also qualified as a tree surgeon to expand my skill set and take on extra work. Wanting a change in surroundings and the ability to travel I joined the Royal Navy as an Engineer Technician Marine Engineer, where I served 6 years, completing 1 tour of duty in the Gulf of Aden.
After deciding to go back to study media, I joined City College Plymouth where I gained my first experience of media and never looked back. I went onto the University Of Plymouth where I studied BA(Hons) Filmmaking for 3 years, covering all aspects from pre-production all the way to online marketing distribution, graduating with a 1st class honours.
I joined Shield Media Services mid way through my second year and have managed to hone my technical craft further, by working on weddings, corporate videos and company adverts. This quickly progressed into being asked to take charge of weddings and manage the clients wedding day, and later in the edit, changes and reviews. This has made me more adept and comfortable dealing with client expectations, and overall delivery of a product.
I love to learn new skills and take on all types of challenges, particularly drones, as I am now a fully qualified and insured drone pilot. I am relentless in my pursuit to improve my knowledge of media and technical capabilities, currently I am expanding my knowledge of Adobe After Effects & Social Media Marketing through accredited UDEMY courses. My ambition in the future is to be a self-shooting DP within documentaries. I am currently working on a documentary to look more into the life of a boxer what it takes to enter the professional rankings, and the mental strength a boxer must have to achieve this.
